Kathleen Mary Meek

Kathleen M. Meek is a summa cum laude graduate of the Indiana University McKinney School of Law where she graduated in the top 3% of her class, was the Symposium Editor of the Indiana Law Review, President of the Environmental Law Society, and a member of the International Moot Court team that argued at the Regional Finals in Istanbul, Turkey. Ms. Meek earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in Environmental Policy in 2005.

Katie is well known as a meticulous and zealous advocate for her clients in a wide variety of family law matters, including legal separation, alimony, parenting time, child custody/support, division of assets, dissolution actions, and guardianships.

In all matters, as a mother herself, Katie is very child-focused and takes an active and engaged role when it comes to her clients and their children. She also places great emphasis on the financial matters that accompany divorce: analyzing, valuing, dividing, restructuring and protecting marital assets. Her experience extends to the application and drafting of prenuptial and post-nuptial agreements, protective orders, restraining orders, post-secondary education issues, emancipation and all post-dissolution matters. She has extensive experience with the UCCJEA, and handles adoptions, including step-parent adoptions. Ms. Meek is also a lead appellate attorney at the law firm, and has a published appellate decision from the Maine Supreme Judicial Court issued in 2008.

Prior to joining Bowen & Associates, LLC, Kathleen practiced law with a civil litigation firm in Portland, Maine also specializing in family law. She has served as a volunteer for the Domestic Violence Pro Bono Panel of Maine, the Courthouse Assistance Program, and the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine.

When she's not working, Kathleen can be found spending time with her husband and children, biking, or gardening.
