Sep 27, 2018OUTCOME: Jury awarded our client $1.2M and put 90% fault on the cruise line.
In Dec. 2014, Joyce Higgs was a 67-yr-old retired school teacher on a luxury cruise with her family. On the fourth day of the cruise, Mrs. Higgs was leaving the breakfast buffet with her food when she ... turned a corner and tripped over a bucket full of dirty cleaning water. A Costa crew member negligently left the bucket sitting in the walkway around the corner where passengers could not see it. Mrs. Higgs suffered a badly broken shoulder and underwent orthopedic surgery. She later developed avascular necrosis in the shoulder which will require additional surgical procedures. Mrs. Higgs had roughly $61,000 in past medical expenses ($13,000 paid).
