Ms. King sued Caesars Palace for negligence after an employee spilled hot coffee onto her lap. Ms. King's prior law firm attempted to settle her claims without her consent. The district court upheld ... the settlement, holding that Ms. King's prior law firm had the apparent authority to enter into the settlement agreement. Ms. King then appealed the purported settlement to the Nevada Court of Appeals, where Mr. Kaplan made the oral argument, successfully arguing against the agency relationship and resulting in a reversal and remand of the district court's order.
