Mike is simply the best!! After struggling with other counsel for a couple of years and the case not moving forward, counsel I engaged on related issues suggested I consult with Mike Kaufman as I was told he is, "the best attorney when there are issues with children". I retained Mike as counsel in 2012 after a failed attempt at a collaborative divorce with another attorney. This failure left me very disappointed with the entire “agreement process”. I found that I was very comfortable speaking with Mike and he helped me to refocus on what was important and despit...e my reluctance for discussing agreements, I could not disagree with Mike’s common sense and logical step-by-step approach to the divorce process. My work is very interactive with the courts and court processes and I was impressed by Mike’s knowledge and experience but mostly by the way he could interpret the many conflict situations that I experienced with my former spouse throughout the divorce process and how he helped me to intelligently navigate them. I had to learn to trust Mike, which is something I do not do with most people easily, and it was worth it. I had heard many stories of divorces dragging out for years and years so when my process took less than nine (9) months which included property, assests and child custody, you can understand my appreciation for all of Mike's hard work. I would like to say that was the end of my business with Mike but my former spouse remained to be very difficult and when I found myself back in court I did not hesitate to contact and retain Mike again and a year and a half later we had successfully navigated that entire contempt process. I found Mike to be a very reasonable and a no non-sense attorney who is compassionate when appropriate but also firm and is not afraid to litigate when necessary. Simply, Mike is a great attorney and a good guy!
