OUTCOME: Withholding of Remvoval granted

Pakistani born women was pregnant before she was married. In her religion that is not allowed. Further, she married the father who is not of her religion and that is not allowed. Also, they ahd a secon ... d child but since she married a man not of her religion, and from a different country, the second child is considered to be born as if she was not married at all. We convinced the immigration court that because of these facts that she would be killed if she was sent back to Pakistan.

Client, a minister of religion, came to US over 20 years ago to work at a church. Married a US citizen, had two children. Before he came to US he had been convicted of two drug crimes in his home count ... ry. His wife filed the necessary forms to get his green card. USCIS denied green card citing the two drug convictions. I was retained and today he is a legal permenent resident. Truly, this was the hardest case to win in my 37 years of practicing US immigration law.

OUTCOME: Removal proceding dismissed

Client, who was already a legal permanent resident, commited two crimes and thus was removable form the US. He was put in procdedings in the immigration court. We were able to get one convictin reopen ... ed and the case dismissed. The other convictin was also reopened and conviction was changed to a lesser level which made it not to be a conviction (now being only one) which would make him removable. The government's lawyer agreed and we submitted a Joint Motion (meaning the government and me) to the immigration court.Thecouart dismissed the case and now he is free from being made to leave the US.
