Amy's Story
Nov 20, 2018OUTCOME:
I was originally seeking counsel to file for divorce. I had found out that my infant son had been abused by my at the time husband. I knew our divorce had the potential to be very complex, would likely ... include juvenile court for protection of my son, and also required an attorney understand the workings of criminal court as well. Through our case, I also consulted with Scott Brand in regards to how the ongoing criminal case would affect our family. Child custody was of upmost importance to me. I was seeking to terminate the abuser’s rights and protect our family through protection orders. I specifically chose Ashley Heitkamp because of her vast understanding of child protective services and juvenile court. I appreciated her candid and frank approach and never felt like she was only interested in accruing unnecessary billable hours. It was apparent through every meeting that her goal was to get me what I wanted most; not only the least expensive way, but also in the way that was the least traumatic on our family. She was working to solve my problem from meeting one, and every moment forward. While our divorce is finalized, there have been ongoing needs for her counsel. She is always timely with her emails and thorough with her explanations. Our case resolved exactly as she anticipated it would- and it was beneficial for me to go to trial instead of settle. I can’t imagine ever utilizing a different attorney for the protection of my family and assets.
