Teresa Renee Fout

I hired Ms. Fout to represent me in a divorce/dissolution and she was compassionate and followed through during initial procedures. However, when I submitted to her a proposed separation agreement with common language as used in the local court she objected and instead demanded to write her own sepa...ration agreement "because that's what I do". Her form was generic and insufficient for the complexities of my case; my agreement was jointly agreed to by my spouse and was signed and notarized by both parties; subsequently it was not objected to in court. She billed for all work at her personal rate of $210-$230/hr instead of her paralegal's rate at $95/hr when much of the routine correspondence was done through her paralegal. She quit after the first hearing, withdrawing from representation once I objected to her billing strategy that opposed her contractual terms. She is a nice lady, but lacks integrity in accounting and would not be recommended for challenging cases.

I was referred to attorney Fout by a former client in 2013 regarding filing for divorce. At the initial consultation I was impressed. She was understanding and empathetic. Unfortunately attorney Fout did not follow through well with my divorce, leaving most of the responsibilities up to my ex's attor...ney. This resulted in support papers not being filed correctly and support being held up by five months. There are still legal matters that haven't been resolved over a year later. Her response to my questions were to simply wait while fees kept racking up. Attorney Fout is not an aggressive enough attorney to be well-suited for divorce cases. Anything beyond mere protocol seems to be beyond her skills set.
