Matthew Patrick Trissel

Matt graduated cum laude from The University of Mount Union in the spring of 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. He then attended The University of Akron School of Law, where he was named to the dean’s list and was awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Law, Morals, and Professional Responsibility. He earned his J.D. in the spring of 2016, and was admitted into practice shortly after passing the July 2016 bar exam.

While in law school, Matt worked at a civil litigation firm in Canton, gaining experience in a wide range of issues, including insurance defense, personal injury, premises liability, workplace injury, and worker’s compensation. He then worked as a landman/title abstractor, examining chain of title, researching heirs of severed oil and gas interest holders, and performing lease analysis for drilling efforts in Monroe, Belmont, and Jefferson Counties.

Matt now is an attorney at McCleery Law Firm, located in New Philadelphia, OH.  Matt's primary practice areas include criminal defense, traffic defense, divorce/dissolution, custody, child support modification, guardianship, adoption, probate, estate planning, eviction, and creditor's rights law.  He is a member of the American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys and is trained with the requisite skills to successfully defend DUI/OVI cases.  Matt regularly practices in Tuscarawas County, Stark County, Carroll County, Harrison County, Belmont County, Coshocton County, and Holmes County.

Matt was born and raised in Canton Township, where he currently resides with his wife and two young kids. He is active in the community serving as a youth football coach, founder of the Canton South Football Alumni Association, and as a member of the Canton South Historical Committee.
