Rachel Lynn Smick

I graduated from Saddleback College in May 2008 with an Associate of the Arts Degree, Magna Cum Laude, in Liberal Studies. I graduated from California State University Dominguez Hills with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Summa Cum Laude, with Honors, in English Literature, in May 2011. In June 2015, I received my Juris Doctor from the University of Akron School of Law, Cum Laude, along with a Certification in Litigation for Trial Advocacy and Dispute Resolution. I have been licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio since 2015 and my license is in good standing.

From 2015 to present, I have been an active member of the University of Akron’s nationally ranked Trial Advocacy Team. During law school I was recognized for my trial advocacy skills as a student advocate. I continue to volunteer my time coaching for Akron Law School’s Trial Advocacy Teams in the Fall and Spring semesters, and I also volunteer my time teaching for Akron Law School’s Summer Trial Academy. I have gained valuable experience in my continued involvement with coaching mock trial at The University of Akron School of Law from 2015 to present. I am also responsible for running an internal mock trial Summer Trial Academy for the associate attorneys at my law firm, Hoover Kacyon, LLC. I have continued to hone my trial advocacy skills as the lead counsel and co-counsel on a variety of matters that have gone to Trial over the years, ranging from family law issues to complex adoption and probate issues, and the like.

My primary focus in my practice at my firm, Hoover Kacyon, LLC, is family law. Throughout the course of my career with Hoover Kacyon, LLC I have devoted my practice entirely to family law matters ranging from Dissolutions to Divorces, post Decree issues, custody issues, support issues, and I also primarily handle complex family law issues. As of January 2023, I have been Certified by the Ohio State Bar Association as a Specialist in the area of family law.
