Peter C. Bergan Jr.

Pete Bergan is involved in all aspects of commercial real estate including financing, sales and acquisitions, development, zoning, leasing, and workouts and foreclosures. He has served as counsel to national and regional lenders on mortgage-backed loan originations for both portfolio lending and loans destined for securitization.

Pete has had the opportunity to represent large national lending groups with an emphasis on capital markets, conduit, and bank financing including mortgage-backed loan originations and securitizations. In his role as counsel to CMBS lenders, he also has had the opportunity to work closely with his clients and assist them in shaping practices and procedures.

Pete has represented investment banks, commercial banks, funds, and insurance companies on a variety of loan transactions for both securitizations and portfolios, including construction loan financings, loan syndications and participations, co-lending and senior/subordinate arrangements, and mezzanine finance. He has been out in the forefront of CMBS 2.0 and has been active in the development and negotiation of form loan documents for CMBS lenders. His experience extends to the workout, restructuring, and foreclosures of both securitized and portfolio commercial mortgage loans, and he has extensive experience working with special servicers.

Pete is a member of the American Bar Association and the Risk Management Association. He has written extensively on the FDIC and real estate loan workouts and foreclosures.
