In more than 25 years of practice, Margaret Wong has built Margaret W. Wong & Associates Co., L.P.A. into a firm nationally and internationally renowned for its knowledge in immigration and nationality law. She is the current co-chair of the Immigration Law Committee for the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, and chair of the Cleveland Bar Association's Immigration Law Section.
Ms. Wong has received the highest rating, AV, from Martindale-Hubbell, based on both legal ability and general-ethics standards. Her peers have named her a "Leading Lawyer," an exclusive list that has been published in Inside Business Magazine since 2001. She is listed as a 2004 "Super Lawyer" in Cincinnati Magazine, a distinction reserved for the top 5% of lawyers. She has also been listed as one of the "Best Lawyers in America."
Because of her personal experience as an immigrant, Margaret Wong combines qualities Americans admire: an immigrant's work ethic, an entrepreneur's drive, a keen sense of resourcefulness, and the utmost compassion for those in need. In 1950, Margaret Wong was born in the former British Colony of Hong Kong. Months earlier, her Chinese parents fled the political repression and civil war caused by the Communist takeover of China.
Based on her own experience of obtaining a green card and U.S. citizenship under U.S. immigration law, Margaret Wong recognized that companies and individuals need sound guidance in this highly regulated, seemingly arcane, and sometimes frustrating regulatory area. She founded Margaret W. Wong & Associates with one desk and no secretary. Her practice now includes six attorneys and 35 other staff members.
Over the last two decades Margaret Wong has helped employers obtain work permits for their executives and has assisted thousands of people in coming to the United States to become permanent residents, advance their educations, work, and pursue opportunities. Her clients come from every country around the world, from every walk of life, and range from governmental and corporate to ordinary people. The law firm's talented team handles every kind of immigration problem; its staff is multilingual, with proficiency in languages including Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi, Tagalog, Russian, Spanish, French, German and Japanese. Executives and large law firms seek her help when they have tough immigration problems. She is known for speed, quality, honesty and persistence.
She has won numerous awards, including two for philanthropy - the Margaret Ireland Award from the Cleveland Women's City Club and the 1997 Creative Philanthropy Award from the Women's Community Foundation. Crain's Cleveland Business has named her to their "Women of Influence" list and Cleveland Magazine has included her with its "Most Interesting People." Margaret Wong also received the highly coveted Ellis Island Medal of Honor in May 1998 for her outstanding achievements and contributions to the multicultural fabric of the United States. She was inducted into the Ohio Women's Hall of Fame in 2000. Other honors and awards include an Outstanding Alumni Award from State University of New York at Buffalo, the Trailblazer Award from NAPABA, Kent State University's Social Responsibility Award, and the Leadership Award from the United Black Fund.
Margaret Wong is a civic leader who educates and inspires others. While she was serving as the first Asian-American president of the Cleveland Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, the Cleveland chapter won the coveted Chapter Activity Award. The Ohio Supreme Court appointed her a charter member of the Continuing Legal Education Commission for attorneys, where she is currently serving as a member of its Racial Task Force. She has presented numerous seminars on immigration and naturalization law for bar associations and the public. Committed to giving something back to the community and to mentoring young professionals, Ms. Wong has volunteered her time and expertise on boards of diverse organizations, including Notre Dame College, Cuyahoga Community College Foundation, Northeast Ohio Commission on Higher Education, Cleveland Bar Foundation, Ohio State Bar Foundation, American Immigration Lawyers Association, Asian Bar Association, Town Hall, University Hospitals Health System, St. Vincent Hospital Health Care System, United Way Services, and the Cleveland State University and Case Western Reserve University Law School Advisory Boards. Ms. Wong is also a life member of both the Eighth Judicial District Court and the Federal Sixth Circuit Court. Margaret is also an Urban League Board Member and VP.
Ms. Wong has offices in Cleveland, Ohio; Columbus, Ohio; Detroit, Michigan; New York, NY; Atlanta, GA; and Nashville, TN. She is admitted for practice in Ohio, New York, Illinois, Georgia, District of Columbia and Michigan.

My wife got deported....
My wife was in jail for waiting for deportation. I met the secretary at Atlanta office, and she took the case. I paid $12,000. Since then, I met Mrs Margaret Wong only once to discuss my case. She said she can take my wife from jail and find a way of getting her the green card. I met my lawyer who...
Thank you so much for reaching out to us. We know and understand and empathize with how you feel. Due to confidentiality rules, we can't address your case in this comment, but we can say that every case is unique, and almost every case has hope. Your wife's case may in fact not permit her to return, and that is a very sad thing. There are extenuating circumstances that make that so, and cannot be discussed on AVVO. However, US Immigration Law is constantly changing, and there may yet be hope for reuniting your wife with your family. If there's any immigration law firm in the United States who can help you with this difficult situation, it's Margaret W. Wong & Associates. We do much high risk, high impact litigation work with the Department of Homeland Security and Department of Justice attorneys to help our clients, and have precedent-setting cases at the Board of Immigration Appeals, District Courts and Circuit Court levels. One of our attorneys lost a loved one after 3 years of struggling with cancer. When our attorney watched and shared thoughts with the doctors and nurses and social workers, our attorney thought of the similarities between an immigration lawyer and an oncology (cancer) doctor. Just like the doctor, the attorney may not be able to "cure the disease," but we treat our clients with passion and care and offer world-class service. So if you don't like our results, that's okay. But don't let a defeat break your spirit. We are really pretty good at what we do and we're only getting better. Let's continue this immigration dialogue. Please call and schedule a phone conversation so we can review your file, and have a conversation.

Worst Immigration lawyer for my life
I gave was not my 42B case to her seven years ago by paying $12,000. She took my case and I have two different lawyer who handled my case. During last seven years, they never informed me how the process going. They only called me couple of days before Hearing and asking for all kind of documents. W...
Reading your comments has really hurt my feelings. I do not think that your comments accurately represent our seven-year relationship. Although I cannot disclose confidential details of your immigration case under our professional code of conduct, I must note that our firm faithfully assisted you in staying in the United States and obtaining employment authorization over the course of seven years. However, over these seven years we also endured relentless complaints and requests for guaranteed results. As you know, it is ethically impermissible for us to guarantee an outcome in any immigration case. I would also note that while we contacted you on multiple occasions prior to the hearing you mentioned in your review, you did not take our firm advice with regard to gathering the evidence necessary to prevail in your case. Prior to the end of our attorney-client relationship, you again demanded a guaranteed result and free legal work. As you know, no attorney can make such a guarantee. Because I felt sorry for you, I offered you a very substantial refund of your fees, which you accepted (and thus, the amount you mentioned above is not accurate). I chose to end our relationship because your actions toward this firm’s attorneys and staff became threatening and abusive. Please keep in mind that obtaining lawful permanent residency in the United States is a privilege, not a right. As a reminder, many immigration benefits are time-sensitive, so you should seek another immigration lawyer as soon as possible. I wish you the best of luck with your immigration case.

Do not waste your money
I hired her and that same day we paid her 5,000 to help out with an immigration issue I am having. Not even 2 months later I decided to put everything on hold since I am pregnant and my pregnancy became high risk, so overwhelmed with doctor bills I asked her to please refund me my money since her off...
I am surprised. We undercharge the industry immensely. We need to be affordable to our clients. That being said, the legal industry generally doesn't refund. Most lawyers don’t refund anything. Even after the down payment, and after a lot of work is done, we only kept 500 out of the 5000 paid. Our clients should be happy with a 90% refund. We just cannot please everybody.

Run from this attorney
Margaret Wong lied to me about my immigration status, lied to USCIS on my application, which she changed after I signed the papers. She will tell you whatever you want to hear, but not the truth about immigration law. If the case gets denied she will somehow "loose" all the documents to cover her wro...
I feel very bad about this. You can even call me directly at my cell 216 952 8419 and I will make it right for you. I will go to the edge of the mountain to find your file and make it right.

REVIEW
My family and I met this attorney in the 90's and she suggested several different ways to be able to obtain a green card. We trusted her because she seemed honest. We found out the hard way that all she was after is our money, which we didn't have much of having just immigrated to the US. She took mo...
I have been watching my cell and even carry it to the shower and bathroom runs. I have not heard from anyone of you who are complaining about me. As lawyers and members of the bar, you cannot help you or do right if I don't even know who you are. Please connect w me so I don't have to be constantly worried about these cases. These complaints hurt my feelings. Please email or call me. I will get to the bottom of this.
