John Martin Murphy

Murphy joined Kelley & Ferraro LLP in 1999 after spending three years at Davis & Young LLP defending asbestos cases. He graduated from Gilmour Academy in 1988, Purdue University with a BA in 1992 and from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1995. Murphy was named Partner in 2004, and Equity Partner in 2006. He serves as Magistrate for Bratenahl and Grand River Courts and has served as Special Prosecutor in Bratenahl He serves as an Arbitrator for the Alternative Dispute Resolution department of the Cuyahoga Common Pleas Court. Murphy is licensed to practice law in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and Michigan. He is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the New York Bar Association, the Michigan Bar Association, the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, and the Ohio Association of Civil Trial Attorneys. Murphy has recovered millions of dollars on behalf of Asbestos clients as well as Personal Injury clients. As a result of his accomplishments, he was selected as a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Furthermore, he has also been recognized as an Ohio Super Lawyer Rising Star three times: 2005, 2006, and 2007.  He also has been recogzized as an Ohio Super Lawyer eight times: 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 ,2017, 2018, and 2019   Away from the courtroom, he served as the Commissioner of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association's Young Lawyers Softball League for ten years. As Captain of his team, he won ten consecutive championships. In 2012, he was nominated as a board member for the Cleveland Baseball Federation.
