Erin Adams Armstrong

Erin Armstrong is the best attorney I have ever worked with. She was highly recommended to me by another law firm.She is very knowledgeable of the law and is a very compassionate person. She worked very hard for me in my child custody case, and I would not hesitate to use her again if the need ever c...ame up.

We initially called three lawyers to form a basis of whom to select to update and prepare our family legal documents. Erin was the only lawyer who took the time to talk with us up front about how she could help us fulfill our needs and invited us to meet with her for a consultation. My wife and I fo...rmed an immediate bond as we learned of her qualifications and skills and more importantly of her family, religious and ethical values. During the face to face meetings, Erin used a structured but non-formal and friendly approach in determining our choices and recording that information for her later drafting our new Wills, Durable Power of Attorney, Health Care Power of Attorney, etc. In addition, she was very helpful and recommended new legal documents that have recently emerged to fortify other documents -- these included the "Designation of Personal Representative" for HIPPA requirements; the "Appointment of Representative for Disposition of Bodily Remains" which is a new document authorized by the Ohio House in 2006 to enhance and legally record specific and concise final wishes to assist family members expediciously during a difficult time. Erin also made a useful recommendation to deposit our wills and file them in the Probate Court so that an official copy would be available in an off-site location. She also took care of the filing details for us. Overall, we were very pleased with Erin's legal knowledge and her ability to explain to us in easily understandable language, the details of some complex terms and concepts that are often taken for granted and not questioned because people may feel that it is common knowledge and don't want to be embarrassed. Erin made us feel at ease to ask any questions and took the time to explain them to us so that we really understood what is now in our legal documents. We would recommend Erin to anyone who needs legal work performed and strongly endorse her working approach with clients as knowledgeable, courteous and easy to understand and work with. She kept us informed on her progress and completed all our requests in a timely manner.

I would highly recommend Erin's services. She helped me through the most difficult time in my life and was always able to keep me grounded and looking at the big picture versus the small issues. She took a personal interest in my situation and the well-being of my children. Erin is a the type ...of person that I would be friends with outside of the lawyer/client relationship. It was very easy to relate with her and that was extremely important to me. Your lawyer learns more about you than your best friends and feeling comfortable with them makes the whole process easier. Going through a divorce is definately not fun. Not only are you dealing with the break-up of your relationship or family, but the legal system can be very intimidating. Erin kept me well informed of the process so that I knew what to expect at each step. Not worrying as much about the process was a relief.

Erin sometimes let months go by without responding to phone calls and emails. Erin did not advocate with any vigor. Erin bragged about being unbeatable during trial, but in the final settlement meeting, advanced only one or two mild objections while letting opposing counsel get everything her client... asked for. Erin helped to ensure that the final separation agreement included protections for the defendant without advocating for protective measures for me. When issues arose after settlement papers were signed, Erin did not return phone calls or respond to emails. As a result of her efforts, I am working a second job for the next year to break even each month. Her billing practices are also unprofessional. After her retainer was paid, Erin did not produce a statement of expenses until after settlement (six months after being hired). I would not recommend her to anyone, and regret that I did not fire her (as so many family members and friends who knew what stress she was putting me through recommended).

Erin seemed like a perfect fit for my custody situation, was confident that we would have results in a timely manner, and I hired her for a cool $2500.00. It's now 16 months later and I have ZERO to show for it. She was unable to get the case changed to Cuyahoga County as she promised, and failed t...o follow through on further promises to address the case in Michigan. She will not send me an itemized description of how my retainer was used, she will not respond to any phone calls or emails. I cannot afford to hire another attorney to help me get custody of my daughter and I feel completely duped.
