State of Indiana v. Richard King (06D02-2311-F6-002166)
Oct 23, 2024OUTCOME: Charges dismissed
King was charged with 2 counts of theft. The State alleged King was involved in a scheme wherein a refrigerator was stolen from Menards in Lebanon, Indiana, on 2 consecutive days by the same 2 individ ... uals. King had a legitimate alibi defense for the theft on the first day in that he was at a medical appointment on the west side of Indianapolis at about the same time of the first theft. On the second day, King allowed the 2 individuals to borrow his truck while he sat in the back seat (his license was suspended). King had no knowledge that his involvement on the second day contributed to the theft of a refrigerator. We were able to investigate King's alibi defense and convince the State of Indiana that their case was not as solid as they once believed. Therefore, the State dismissed all charges.
