also known as Mark A. Skeldon, Mark Skeldon
Mark A. Skeldon is an attorney and founder of Skeldon Law, serving Toledo, Sandusky, and Ohio. Mark brings over a decade of legal experience, focusing his practice on civil litigation against individuals and corporate defendants; practice areas include personal injury, complex injury, motor vehicle accidents, and consumer law. Founded on the belief that access to quality legal representation should be accessible within the community one calls home, Mark’s commitment is seeking justice for clients whose lives are negatively impacted by the negligence of others.
Mark grew up in a working-class family in West Toledo. His parents instilled in him the importance of hard work and treating others as he would want to be treated. Mark’s father is Marty Skeldon, and his Mother is Mary Chris Zychowicz Skeldon. Both the Skeldon and the Zychowicz families were and are proud Toledoans with a long history of serving the community. Mark has used the values of hard work and service to the community to build a practice that effectively advocates for clients and helps them utilize resources in the community. Mark and his wife, Jennifer Maczuga Skeldon, who also grew up in a working-class family, have done their best to instill these same values in their daughters, Meghan and Kate.
Professional Experience
Before his career as an attorney, Mark served as an elementary school educator for Toledo Public Schools, teaching third through fifth grade at Ella P. Stewart Academy for Girls and Martin Luther King, Jr. Academy for Boys. As a teacher, Mark led the Student Assistance Team, a council of teachers, school psychologists, and administrators who worked in collaboration with parents to provide students with special learning needs the resources and tools for success, including Individual Education Plans (IEP) and 504 Plans.
Mark’s tenure with Toledo Public Schools allowed him to earn an advanced understanding of disparity and access to necessary social service resources within the community. The experience and his drive to make a meaningful difference in the community formed Mark’s philosophy of the law and are woven throughout his practice today.
Education
Graduate of The University of Toledo with a Bachelor of Education and Juris Doctorate from The University of Toledo College of Law, earning top grades in classes and graduating cum laude. While in law school, Mark served in the College of Law, Civil Advocacy Clinic, formally known as the Legal Clinic, providing direct legal representation, under the supervision of clinical faculty, to clients within the community who could not afford private legal counsel. The clinic allowed Mark to deepen his knowledge of civil advocacy and gain mentorship from practicing attorneys, prosecutors, and judges.
