First hired Giffin in late August 2013 for a previoulsy filed tax appeal of certain audit adjustments . He charged me for obtaining tax return transcripts instead of getting my copies. He charged me to review my interest expense which was not an appeals issue. He charged me to research IRC sec. 179 e...xpensing which was not an appeals issue. By mid-October when he was contacted by the Appeals Officer for the hearing he was not propared and had not reviewed the issues. He had to delay the hearing. The appeals officer went on vacation and then was to busy later so hearing delayed vs settled costing added interest. I terminated him on 12/10/13 and he then billed me 7-hours for research and appeal letter drafting, but no draft letter was in his file, no research notes, just 1-court case printout.
