Peter James Scranton

As a Partner at Bowen, Scranton & Olsen, Peter J. Scranton brings a distinguished record in criminal defense to the firm. Over the past 20 years, he has participated in more than 200 jury trials and worked in nearly every county in Ohio. Mr. Scranton began his career as a prosecutor with the Columbus City Attorney’s Office, focusing on OVI, domestic violence, and environmental cases such as animal abuse and neglect. A graduate of the Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University, he later served as university counsel, representing students and faculty in a wide range of legal matters. He has also taught at the university and high school levels, and frequently presents at legal conferences nationwide. Certified in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and advanced detection and prosecution, Mr. Scranton utilizes this unique technical skill in defending complex cases. He is an active community volunteer, dedicating over 100 hours annually to service—including disaster relief and educational initiatives—and has served as an advisor for student leadership and service programs. Mr. Scranton is a member of the American, Ohio State, and Columbus Bar Associations, and has been honored as part of the National Trial Lawyers Top 100.
