State of Alabama v. Gabe Watson
Feb 13, 2012OUTCOME: After 9 days of trial, the Court granted a motion for judgment of acquittal.
Mr. Watson was charged with two counts of capital murder in the death of his wife while on their honeymoon in Australia. After entering a guilty plea in Australia, the Alabama Attorney General's off ... ice decided to charge Mr. Watson in Alabama with capital murder committed during a kidnapping or for pecuniary gain. There were two pivotal moments during the trial. The first occurred when the only eye witness testified that he never saw a murder being committed on cross examination by attorney Brett Bloomston. The second pivotal moment occurred when the court refused to allow the State to introduce an alleged reenactment of the events leading to death of the victim. I did an exceptional job of crossing the State's dive expert during a motion hearing.
