Our firm was retained to try to protect the property rights of a landowner in Monroe County whose property was being threatened by the Monroe County Commission's attempt to turn a railroad easement int ... o a recreational trail. We handled the case from pretrial on. The Circuit Court of Monroe County held that the easement reverted to the landowners when it ceased being used as a railroad. The commission appealed and the Alabama Supreme Court upheld the decision 6-3.
