Upon making contact with my cli ... ent, the officer asked for permission to search the vehicle. My client refused, at which time the officer insisted he would search the vehicle regardless. As a result, my client exited his vehicle and locked the doors. The officer became angry and placed my client under arrest. Still lacking any iota of probable cause to search the vehicle, the police decided to tow the car despite it being positioned in a legal parking space. The tow was performed solely to justify an "Inventory Search of the Vehicle Prior to Tow" which revealed a handgun located underneath the driver's seat. Thankfully, the officer's attempt to skirt around my client's 4th Amendment right failed due to my effective cross-examination and closing argument that was supported by case law.
