May 06, 2014OUTCOME: My clients prevailed both at trial and on appeal to the Maine Supreme Court ("Law Court").
The City refused to issue to my clients' petitions so that they could try to obtain signatures to place a citizens' initiative strengthening protections for parklands before the voters. Issues of const ... itutionality as well as interpretation of the City Code are raised. The trial court heard the matter on an expedited basis, as we requested, finding in our favor. The decision was upheld on appeal and is presently awaiting an award of attorneys fees.
