Emergency Custody
May 27, 2015OUTCOME: Custody of son was returned to Father.
Dad called our office on a Wednesday morning, frantically looking for help. He spoke with my partner, Bill Hunter, who talked to him about his case, and how we could help. I happened to run into Dad at ... the courthouse later that day, as he was very emotionally explaining to someone in the Family Court office that his child's mother had taken his son, and he didn't know where his child was. It turned out Dad has had custody of his three year old son since his son's birth, and after he and the child's mother got into an argument, she took off with their son, refusing to tell Dad where she was. We ended up representing Dad in an emergency custody proceeding and the judge ordered that the son be returned to Dad immediately, and that the sheriff's department help Dad locate and retrieve his son.
