Drug Case Dismissed before Trial

OUTCOME: Dismissed

Client was charged with possession of drugs as a passenger in a motor vehicle. The driver of the car was the owner of the car. Client was only there to purchase the car. Officers stopped the vehicle an ... d found drugs in a duffle bag in the backstreet. As the trial approached, we subpoenaed the driver of the car to come testify at trial as the drugs in the duffle bag were his. On the Friday before trial started, the State dismissed the charges as they realized they could not prove that the drugs in the duffle bag belonged to my client.

Presumptive Prison Sentence to Probation

OUTCOME: Probation

Client was charged with one charge of Aggravated Robbery and another charge of Simple Robbery. He was a 19 year old man with many prior robbery convictions. Based on his criminal record and the charge ... s against him, he was looking at a 69 month prison sentence. Client ended pleaded guilty to all charges as a straight plea and we worked on getting him into treatment and other programs to show to the Court that he would be successful on probation. On the day of sentencing, the Judge, after listening to arguments and hearing from client about all his great success, placed client on probation with only a couple months of local jail time.
