DUI with two fatalities and two seriously injured

OUTCOME: A jury convicted the defendant after a 4-day trial of 3rd-degree murder, aggravated assault, DUI, and many related offenses, and he was sentenced to 19.5 to 39 years in jail. The conviction is pending appeal.

A 38-year-old man tried to drive home from Philadelphia to lower Bucks County while nearly twice the legal limit, at nearly twice the speed limit on I-95, and collided with the back of a van going half ... his speed. The van exploded in flames, resulting in the death of the two rear passengers and serious permanent injuries to the two front occupants.

OUTCOME: 14 out of 14 defendants pled guilty to felony drug-dealing crimes, with many more pleading guilty to corrupt organizations ("RICO").

From 2016 through 2018 he led the prosecution along with numerous police agencies in a grand jury investigation into a large-scale heroin distribution network that was estimated to do about $1 million ... in business annually in several upper Bucks County communities like Quakertown and Richlandtown and was connected to several overdose deaths. Despite the fact that only a very small amount of drugs and money were recovered during the investigation, which mostly uncovered the historical activities of the organization, the grand jury issued presentments on and charged 14 different defendants with crimes like Corrupt Organizations (“RICO”) and Possession with Intent to Deliver (“PWID”), all of whom pled guilty because of the overwhelming evidence compiled against them.
