I have litigated several probates involving clients who were left out of an person's estate due to that person dying without a will, which is clearly not what that person wanted. For example, for many ... years people of the same sex could not marry and if one person died in a romantic relationship, that person would receive nothing if they didn't have a will. Luckily, the law has recourse for those people that die without wills.
