The social security applicant was a 78 year old widow who believed she was not entitled to social security benefits. This case was very complicated because the applicant no longer had possession of her ... original documents; birth certificate, marriage certificate, death certificate for spouse. She also had a name change and adoption from her original birth name. I made sure to invest the time to gather all her necessary documents that were scattered through various state and local governments across the east coast. I placed many phone calls and visits to the local social security to ensure the application was moving forward and to provide any additional information the agency was requesting. She received a significant retro check just before Christmas and was overwhelmed with gratitude her daughter called me directly to thank me for everything as her mother was speechless. They were very happy to have a wonderful Christmas.
