• Responsible for all environmental functions in the largest industrial bankruptcy in US history, including planning and managing the confirmation of the environmental aspects of the plan of reorganiza ... tion for MLC, regulatory compliance at over 100 sites, and environmental claims management and administration. • Achieved the then-largest environmental trust settlement in US history, funded with over $770 million, in record time. Obtained $536 million in DIP financing to settle MLC’s obligations with respect to its owned properties, established a comprehensive program to value MLC’s liabilities and gain acceptance of the estimates. • Devised and won acceptance by the affected governments of a unique “pooling” structure for the post-confirmation entity to utilize taxpayer funds as efficiently as possible. • Formulated the environmental strategy for the case, and directed teams of consultants, project managers, lawyers, and business personnel and built successful relationships with senior and staff representatives of the US Treasury, the Presidential Auto Task Force, the US Environmental Protection Agency, the US Department of Justice, the US Department of Labor, and regulators in 14 states and a Native American tribe.
