Carbajal v. Nichols
N/AOUTCOME: Defense verdict in less than 30 minutes.
My client was a professional boxer who was accused by the plaintiff of assaulting him at a gas station in the middle of the night. The plaintiff was an off duty police officer at the time. My client ... maintained his innocence from day one, despite the existence of surveillance video that the plaintiff claimed showed my client beating him. At trial we were able to show that this off duty police officer had been drunk at the time of the alleged altercation, had lied about it on the stand, and was actually the aggressor in the incident. Plaintiff asked the jury for $1.5million. The jury was out for less than 30 minutes and returned a unanimous defense verdict.
