Humanitarian Reinstatement
Jan 26, 2016OUTCOME: Green cards were granted to all six family members
My clients' sister, a US citizen, applied for green cards for my client and his family over 20 years ago. She died a few years later and they didn't realize the death automatically terminated their cas ... e. Other lawyers advised them not to even bother applying as there was no chance of getting it reinstated. But to me the law and facts seemed on their side and I advised them to go ahead and file. We filed lots of evidence to demonstrate the close family ties with U.S. citizen family members, and hardships the family was suffering. It was initially rejected but after an appeal my clients won and are now living happily in the U.S. as permanent residents (green card holders). You can read their testimonial at idakeirlaw.com/ and scroll down to the testimonial that starts with "In 2015 Gilbert and Imelda Asuncion and their four children, all Filipino citizens, hired Attorney Keir to apply for Humanitarian Reinstatement."
