Our Client was cleaning the blades of an industrial bread slicer when the slicer turned on and the blades cut his hand. We found that the company who sold our Client the bread slicer had disabled safet...y features that would have prevented the machine from turning on when it was being cleaned. We settled with the seller, Bakeryequipment.com for $2,000,000.

Trucking accident
Ford v. R.J. Hanynie and Associates, Inc.
Sep 01, 2016
OUTCOME: 460,000
R.J. Haynie allowed an employee named Dennis Colbert to drive a bucket truck, which weighs over 10,000 pounds and qualifies as a “commercial motor vehicle.” Colbert’s motor vehicle report (“MVR”) show...ed a driving history full of violations, and Colbert had never been adequately trained to drive a bucket truck. In fact, the law required R.J. Haynie to check Colbert’s MVR and adequately train Colbert before allowing him to drive a bucket truck.
Unfortunately, R.J. Haynie did put Colbert behind the wheel of a bucket truck, did not check his MVR, and did not give him adequate training. The result was that Dennis Colbert was on the highways operating a heavy, dangerous truck that he was not qualified to drive.
On April 16, 2014, the R.J. Haynie bucket truck being driven by Dennis Colbert was driving behind Christian Ford. An unknown vehicle up ahead swerved into the lane that Colbert and Ford were in, and caused several vehicles to brake. Ford came to a complete stop, as did other cars. Colbert, not knowing how far back from the car ahead of him he was supposed to drive, was following too closely behind Ford. As Ford sat at a complete stop, the heavy R.J. Haynie bucket truck slammed into the rear of Ford’s car. The wreck caused severe injuries to our client and cost approximately $30,000.

A.P. v. Atlanta Apartment Complex [name confidential]
Jul 01, 2016
OUTCOME: 6-figure recovery (confidential)
Our client "AP" was shot while visiting a friend at an apartment complex in Atlanta/College Park, Georgia. While AP was at his friend's apartment, there was a knock at the door and AP answered. An unkn...own man was at thedoor, and he pulled a gun on AP and tried to rob him. The unknown man shot AP.
By doing a thorough investigation, we learned of other dangerous crimes that happened at the apartment complex before AP was shot.
We filed a lawsuit against the complex on AP's behalf. We conducted depositions (formal legal interviews) of the owner, property manager, and three other people who previously worked at the complex. The witnesses testified the complex owner knew about the prior dangerous crimes, but the he refused to increase security; in fact, the owner actually decreased security just months before AP was shot because he didn't want to pay for it.
The complex and its insurance company would not make any offer to settle the case. After we filed the lawsuit and worked on case, the complex agreed to settle for a confidential six-figure amount.
Car accident
Nichols v. Mullins
Jun 01, 2016
OUTCOME: 6-figure recovery (confidential)
My client, Ladonna Nichols, was stopped in traffic when another driver ran into the side of her car. Ladonna went home after the accident, but experienced back and neck pain the following day. Ladonna'...s pain did not go away on its own, and she eventually sought care from a doctor. Ladonna was thankfully able to heal without the need for surgery.
Through a thorough investigation, we were able to find witnesses who said the driver who hit Ladonna was looking down at her phone at the time of the crash. We also prepared Ladonna for her deposition (legal interview under oath), and she did great. The case settled shortly after for well more than Ladonna was hoping for.
