April Leigh McDonald

APRIL L. MCDONALD is a lifelong resident of George County and is an associate attorney with Heidelberg Steinberger, P.A. in both Pascagoula and Lucedale. Her legal practice focus is general civil litigation, governmental, and estate law. She currently serves as the attorney for the George County School Board. She also has significant trial and appellate litigation experience on both the state and federal level.

McDonald is a member of the Jackson County Bar Association, where she has served as president, vice-president and secretary. She is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association where serves on its professionalism committee and is also a member of the Alabama Bar Association and the Jackson County Young Lawyers. She serves on the Editorial Board for the Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association and now on the Board of Directors for the Mississippi Women Lawyers Association. She has been recognized as a Super Lawyers Mid-South Rising Star for 2019-2020 and participated in the 2018 Mississippi Bar Leadership Forum.

McDonald is admitted to practice law before all Mississippi and Alabama State Courts, the U.S. Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. She received her juris doctorate degree from the Mississippi College School of Law, where she was a member of the Moot Court Board, Secretary of Phi Alpha Delta Legal Fraternity, and Senator-At Large of the Law Student Bar Association. She received her Bachelor of Arts in English from Delta State University.

Ms. McDonald joined the firm as an associate in 2013. Prior to joining the firm, she worked as an attorney in a regional personal injury firm and for the Mississippi Department of Human services.

In her community, Ms. McDonald is a Mississippi High School Mock Trial Competition Judge, a member of First Baptist Church of Lucedale, and a blood donor with the Blood Center. Ms. McDonald is also an avid runner and triathlete.
