I went to law school because I wanted to be a champion of the underdog and because I wanted to work in the courtroom.
As an attorney, I have helped individuals and businesses resolve their legal issues for over 20 years. During that time, I have resolved thousands of legal disputes through settlement, but I have also conducted nearly 40 jury trials as lead or co-counsel.
My record of success in the courtroom includes multiple verdicts in excess of $1,000,000. However, the case I am most proud of is the one in which I helped a client who was rear-ended by a U-Haul truck with faulty brakes.
I am also proud to serve as a member of the Mississippi Legislature representing District 122 in the Mississippi House of Representatives. I have worked towards insurance reforms and improving the way in which claims are handled. I was also instrumental in passing several “Sunshine” bills that have helped provide more accountability in state government. Since elected in November 2007, I have been honored to receive several legislative awards, including several from the American Lung Association, the American Federation of Teachers and the Mississippi Association for Justice. I have also been endorsed by the National Rifle Association, The Mississippi Deputy Sheriff's Association and the Mississippi Association of Educators, among others.
As a legislator, I served for three years in a row as Chairman of the Southern Legislative Conference, Gulf and Atlantic State Task Force. I am also a member of the Board of United Policyholders, a non-profit organization helping insurance consumers.
I am an avid sportsman, enjoying fishing and boating with my family. My wife Marcie is also one of my law partners. Together we have three children - Merritt, Bess and Max - who live with us in Waveland, Mississippi.

David is an excellent lawyer!
David is conscientious, professional, honest, and sincere. David is an excellent lawyer!
"David is an extraordinary trial lawyer. When I have a big case I want David on my side. He is totally dedicated to his clients and always listens with sympathy and compassion. He is a master of settling cases without going to trial, but is unafraid to take on the biggest corporations in court if necessary. He's as tough as they come and his winning record proves it. Jon A. Swartzfager, Trial Attorney, Laurel, Miss."
