Falsified Billing/Refusal to Reimburse

She charged me $3000 in 2016 without doing any legal work for me at all! I was cheated on in my marriage and in physical danger every day from my ex husband via harrassment, stalking, breaking and entering, and every abuse type. I was afraid to piss him off and just wanted to get out. I kicked him... out and started a non contested process quietly and went to Elizabeth for a consultation and hired her. My father is barred in Louisiana and did the entire community property settlement agreement. My insane ex turned around and sued me 3 months into this process of which she did nothing. She refused to begin to start being my lawyer unless I gave her $4500 more on top of the $3000 for a contested divorce. My ex and I worked together, which she knew, so I had literally zero funds and zero protection. This woman refused to help me for any less money and refused to work out a payment plan with the future alimony and child support that any other lawyer on the planet would have gotten me… despite the imminent, physical danger me and my son were in. THEN, she sent a falsified, itemized billing statement charging me THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS (in 2016, mind you) for literally going back and forth with me on whether or not she would represent me. She didn’t do ANY LEGAL WORK WHATSOEVER AND LEFT ME AND MY CHILD IN PHYSICAL DANGER WITHOUT ANY OPTIONS. Refusing to reimburse me my money so I could get help from someone willing to do it at that price was vile and what every person recommended I file a complaint against her license because of. The only reason I didn’t was because of my fragile emotional state and extreme ptsd after years of being abused in a marriage… I didn’t get myself together in time to add another task to the list. The fact that all these years later, she still has no remorse or desire to start being an ethical person is absolutely repulsive. She knows keeping my money and leaving me and my son unprotected with a violent, rich drunk was horrifying, but she’s certainly never considered giving us our money back nor anything else. Nothing! No sweat off her back and she was $3000 richer without stepping foot into a courtroom nor doing literally anything but say “give me 4500 more”. Zero morals and zero ethics in my experience with her!! If you are in actual danger and need protection from an attorney, please reconsider and find suitable counsel!

We're sorry you had a bad experience with our firm 8 years ago. This matter does not sound familiar, and we strive for the utmost client satisfaction in every case. Please contact me directly to discuss your specific concerns. As our firm has been built on the backs of client referrals as well as referrals from esteemed judges and attorneys, there would have to be more to this situation. Our firm has never falsified nor exaggerated billing and works to give clients the most efficient quality representation in matters that, because of their very nature, are expensive.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!

Elizabeth helped me with my son’s adoption this past year. She is very passionate and cares for her clients. She’s also very professional and very knowledgeable. I was informed of everything throughout my entire case. Elizabeth and her team never once made me feel like they didn’t have time for me, t...hey answered EVERY question I had. My case took longer than I personally wanted it too, but when I tell you every legal block was checked off, it was. And there’s no coming back from it. I HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND Elizabeth and her team for what ever it is, your needing.

Lack of integrity- very Negative experience

Original post 8 years ago. I had a very negative expierence with this attorney and Requested my money back. I am a disabled military wife of an active duty soldier and , I hired her for a custody hearing for my 4 daughters and after basically saying look youve done nothing I want my money back and ...am Lodging a complaint with the Mississippi Bar she passed the blamed onto her assistant, and asked me for more time and more money. She wanted more money for a job she hadnt done and did everything she could to extend time. Then when I asked her assistant for my paperwork and court file she told me to stop harassing her assistant , blocked me from emailing the office and told me I could contact her only. Then when I told her I wasnt paying her anymore money because she had not done the job I hired her for , which was the custody representation for my 4 daughter, I wrote a demand for refund letter for the $3000 retainer and the amount for shipping and my replacement court custody file she said she had didnt have any longer not only that I had to send her a bill for the 2000 page court file. My advise if if you arent in the state to meet your attorney do not hire them. I am still waiting for my refund. I am just going to say I had a horribly negative experience and i felt strung along. each time I called she was out of the office, in court, on vacation, sick her kid was sick, she was going thru her own divorce, she had a personal day. I notified her I was a DISABLED MILITARY WIFE OF A SOLDIER WHO WAS ACTIVE DUTY AND GOING TO DEPLOY TO AFGHANISTAN and she was quick to take money money and I got NOOOOO representation. Then when I called and emailed to get services she said I was harassing her assistant , who she pushed me off on. I wouldnt even give this person a star. Today LITERALLY 8 YEARS LATER- Ms Porter attempted to gas light me saying I was dishonest in providing information in my case. SHE ATTEMPTED TO DEFAME MY GOOD NAME AND CHARACTER. I FIRED HER BECAUSE SHE WAS HORRIBLE- she DIDNT DO THE JOB SHE WAS HIRED TO DO AND TRIED TO KEEP MY MONEY. I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE SHE HAS DONE THIS TOO. 8 YEARS LATER... I AM RESPONDING TO HER ATTEMPT TO GAS LIGHT ME. SHE CANT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR HER ACTIONS OR LACK THEIR OF. HAD SHE DONE WHAT SHE WAS HIRED TO DO THIS REVIEW WOULD BE MUCH DIFFERENT. 8 YEARS LATER DOESNT SEEM SHE CAN TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR HER ACTIONS STILL. LESS THAN ONE STAR AND ZERO INTEGRITY.

I actually recently looked back at your case because you continue to leave negative reviews. All I can say is that this is untrue. I will not air your dirty laundry on a public forum, because I have never (before nor since) gotten out of a case for the reason I got out of yours. I wish you well and will continue to respond to your baseless claims with the dignity and respect I try to give all people.

Outstanding!

My experience with Elizabeth Porter was nothing short of exceptional. In navigating a complex child custody case, she demonstrated a remarkable blend of legal expertise and genuine empathy. Her meticulous approach to the details of my case, coupled with a commitment to fairness, set her apart. Wha...t truly stood out was her ability to communicate complex legal concepts in a clear and accessible manner, ensuring I understood each step of the process. Throughout the proceedings, she consistently demonstrated a deep understanding of family law and an unwavering dedication to my case. Her strategic thinking and thorough preparation were evident in every interaction. It was apparent that she had a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies involved in child custody matters. Despite the challenges, she remained composed and focused, always prioritizing the best interests of my child. In the end, her efforts culminated in a successful outcome—I was granted custody of my child. This victory is a direct result of her hard work, legal acumen, and commitment to fairness. I wholeheartedly recommend Elizabeth to anyone in need of a family law expert, especially in challenging custody cases.
