David Lee Flaherty

Lee Flaherty practices in the areas of corporate and commercial transactions with a particular emphasis in commercial real estate, taxation and health care. His real estate practice includes advising clients regarding real property acquisitions and financing, including issuing title insurance and curing title defects. He also advises clients with respect to leasing and franchising transactions.

Mr. Flaherty’s tax practice includes advising clients on the formation and tax consequences of various types of business entities, advising clients on federal, state and local tax incentives and credits, and advising clients with respect to wills, trusts and family limited partnerships.

Mr. Flaherty’s health care practice includes assisting hospitals and physicians on Medicare and Medicaid payment issues, including representing hospitals in administrative appeals under the Recovery Audit Program. He also assists hospitals and physicians with contractual arrangements.

Prior to joining Phelps Dunbar, Mr. Flaherty served as a legal extern to the Hon. Neil P. Olack of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Mississippi. In addition, Mr. Flaherty is a Certified Public Accountant with over five years’ experience auditing financial statements of corporations, non-profits and governmental entities.
