Decision by the US Supreme Court regarding the constitutionality of the Communications Decency Act. I was on the brief and drafted many sections.
OUTCOME: Manager found to act as agent without a license.
Court held that manager who was paid only when actor worked was acting as an agent without a license. Case later vacated on other grounds, due to settlement prior to decision being rendered.
OUTCOME: $200 million action settled for an "apology"
Plaintiff asserted defendant's failure to monitor internet bulletin board and remove allegedly defamatory statements rendered Internet Service Provider liable for libel. Case dismissed, in exchange fo ... r apology. Prior decision, rendered before my association with defendant, in which ISP was found liable was reversed by Congress in the Communications Decency Act of 1996 as a result of my lobbying efforts.
