Two ladies/domestic partners came to the United States from Russia seeking asylum because they were persecuted in Russia due to being of nontraditional sexual orientation and residing with minor childr ... en (their children). They had a child together, a natural mother to this child was one of the partners. About a year after residing in San Diego County, the natural mother left with the child (moved out and did not want to continue the relationship with her partner). The partner filed a paternity action. I represented the partner seeking the determination of the parental rights of the child that was born into their relationship. We had a 5.5 day trial, that I and my business partner won.
