This case involved a challenge to the Court's jurisdiction (authority) to even hear the case. Our client and his wife were residents of Oregon, but Wife moved to California with their child and claime ... d to be the victim of domestic violence. We challenged whether California was the proper state to hear the case - arguing there was no such authority and even if there were that all the witnesses and evidence were located in Oregon. After several hearings, one of which involved three judges and 4 attorneys, the case was sent packing back to Oregon.

Personality often shapes the tone of a family law dispute. In this case, arrogance and a vindictive heart by the opposing party was making life miserable. During the course or things, the other side abused the kids, quit his job (claimed to have been laid off) quit seeing the children, quit paying support and failed to honor the divorce judgment. We were successful on defense and on offense, maintaining near complete control over almost all aspects of each dispute.

Mother wanted to limit our client's custody (right to make decisions) and visitation, and made several false claims during the process. The custody mediator bought Mother's lies hook, line and sinker. ... We didn't give up, and brought an expert into trial to demonstrate the custody mediator's mistakes. We proved the mediator was inattentive, biased, and that her recommendations were so faulty that the Court denied Mother's motion.

The opposing party had quietly drained a substantial portion of retirement accounts prior to and just after date of separation, later claiming the money was spent on community debt. We then discovered ... an entirely unreported retirement account that had been cashed out years earlier. We were eventually able to prove everything and the case settled out of court.

Opposing party failed to obey several court orders prohibiting uncivil communications, including restriction on foul language. Defendant denied he was guilty and after 4 days of trial, Court ruled him ... guilty. (This same Defendant now posts negative reviews about this office on social media sites - he apparently must vent his frustrations, we're just happy it is no longer toward our client)
