Community Outreach and Involvement
Attorney Myra Hamilton’s advocacy, community and humanitarian spirit and her interest in helping “women” and their families was not stopped by a global pandemic that took the world by storm in the spring of 2020. In fact, during the Global Pandemic, Attorney Myra through the Eviction Settlement Program that was managed by Neighborhood Preservation, Inc., with the cooperation of Memphis Area Legal Services, and the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law’s Clinical Program negotiated with a financial arrangement Landlords to help people remain in their homes which kept eligible tenants from being evicted where the pandemic threatened not only their health and their livelihoods, but their homes as well.
Also, during the pandemic Attorney Myra participated as a Pro Bono Volunteer Attorney where she participated in the Virtual Non-Conviction Expungement Clinic in partnering and collaborating with the Sponsors of the Clinic: Ben F. Jones Chapter of the National Bar Association, Tennessee Supreme Court Access to Justice Commission, Memphis Area Legal Services, Tennessee Faith and Justice Alliance, Memphis Bar Association-Young Lawyer’s Division, and the Shelby County General Sessions Clerk.

In terms of Attorney Hamilton's business community service activity or organizational involvement, she has been recognized for her legal pro bono service within the community when she was selected and listed on the Pro Bono Honor Roll listed by the Tennessee Bar Association serving as a Pro Bono Attorney in the Courthouse Advice & Counsel Clinic and for her participation in the Saturday Legal Aid Clinic all sponsored by the Memphis Bar Association. Attorney Hamilton was awarded the 2012 Legends Award by the Melrose High School Alumni for providing legal service in the Community.
Attorney Hamilton has mentored Law School graduates waiting to pass the bar, served as a member of the Bar that motions or presents new law students who successfully passed the bar to the court during their swearing in ceremony, participated as a Moot Court Judge with the Thurgood Marshall Moot Court competition from an invitation from the Southern Regional Moot Court Director, National Black Law Students Association.
Attorney Hamilton is a former AmeriCorps Director where she trained college graduates in their efforts to provide community services to some of the most economically impoverished communities including tutoring. Attorney Hamilton provides free mentoring to young entrepreneurs starting a business and participates in local neighborhood business fairs and church legal clinics. Attorney Hamilton teaches continuing legal education seminars for National Business Institute on Human Resources/Employment Law for HR professionals and attorneys.
Attorney Hamilton also serves the community as one of the Ministers with the Healing Ministry at her church , a Pew Pastor, a Big Sister Co-Leader on the Priscilla Line in the Adelphe Christian Women’s Sorority all at her church she attends. Myra created a women's group called "Sister Sister" that provides for spiritual navigation of everyday life challenges well before the pandemic started.
Attorney Myra is best known as an Employment Discrimination Attorney. She has been recognized and honored in her General Counsel role with Hamilton Entertainment Employment Law, a 100% woman owned business.
Since 2000, Attorney Hamilton has handled workplace unlawful and discriminatory employment allegations before the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, (Nashville, Memphis, and Little Rock District), Tennessee Human Rights Commission and before other Federal EEOC offices in several other states relating to federal employment laws violations. Myra has provided employment law legal services that included but not limited to writing EEOC Position Statements to defend against allegations of unlawful employment practices of Corporate and non-federal employees.
Additionally, Attorney Hamilton has written Rebuttal statements for employees that opposes alleged legitimate nondiscriminatory basis argued and asserted by the Employer and to demonstrate that the Employer’s proffered reasons were pretextual in nature. Attorney Hamilton has appeared at scheduled medications with Federal Mediators in negotiating settlements on behalf of clients. For five consecutive years Attorney Myra wrote Management side EEOC Position Statements when she worked in Human Resources with the City of Memphis. Myra continues to write Position Statements for business clients, provides counsel and guidance on the business on risk associated with the investigation and provides recommendation on settlement. Attorney also writes Rebuttals to Position Statements for Clients.
Since 2010, Attorney Hamilton has represented Federal Employees before the United States Equal Employment Federal Sector Hearings Unit where she litigates and negotiate settlements of filed Charges of allegations of workplace discrimination. Attorney Hamilton represents federal employees on EEOC Appeals originating in various Federal Sector Hearings Unit who requested a hearing before a Federal EEOC Administrative Judge.
Attorney Hamilton’s unlawful employment discrimination practices calls upon her skills, knowledge and experience to demonstrate effective communications with Government officials; conduct extensive caselaw research; providing the full gamut of legal services necessary for litigation before the U.S. EEOC from the time the complainant files a request for an administrative hearing until the proceedings conclude, including court appearances, discovery, dispositive motions, and hearings; Prepare all litigation documents in response to Acknowledgement Orders ; Joint Hearing Orders; Pre Hearing Conferences; and other requirements of the U.S. EEOC and the policies of the agency; performing tasks for pretrial preparation and case management to ensure that all paperwork is completed and filed in accordance with established timeframes; ensuring written discovery documents and witnesses are identified and prepared as needed for dispositive motions and trial in advance of court deadlines in support of the employee/client’s case; developing a case analysis outlining the strengths and weaknesses of the case, including recommendations on litigation or settlement, and providing it to the Client.
Myra also provides representation before the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development before the Appeals Tribunal in connection with filed unemployment matters.
Attorney Hamilton reviews all types of Entertainment & Sports Contracts as well as Film and Agent/Management Contracts.
