James Albin Crislip Jr.

I am James Crislip, an attorney practicing in Memphis, Tennessee. My journey into the law began at the University of Memphis, where I completed a Bachelor of Arts in 1993 and a Master of Public Administration in 1996. Those early years shaped my interest in how law, government, and community intersect — a perspective I carried forward when I earned my Juris Doctor from the University of Memphis School of Law in 2000.

I was admitted to the Tennessee Bar in 2000 and have practiced continuously in the region since that time. Over the course of my career I have concentrated on matters involving real estate and property law, including title curative actions, foreclosures, tax sale law, and condemnation defense. I also represent landlords and creditors in collections and related enforcement actions, and I assist clients with business formation and basic estate planning, including wills.

My work balances transactional and litigation-related tasks. Whether preparing documents, negotiating resolutions, guiding clients through tax sale or foreclosure procedures, or defending property owners in condemnation matters, I aim to provide practical, clear guidance that helps clients understand their options and move forward with confidence. I represent a diverse range of clients — from individual property owners and small business owners to lenders and landlords — and I tailor my approach to each client's goals and circumstances.

Membership in the Memphis Bar Association and the Tennessee Bar Association keeps me connected to the legal community and current with developments affecting my practice areas. I conduct my practice in English.
