Jennifer McKinnish Burton

Jennifer McKinnish Burton focuses her practice on areas of practice that help families - mainly Social Security Disability and Family law.    Jennifer loves helping people and being intentional in the lives of her clients whether it is helping someone through the grief and heartache of divorce, the joy of adoption, or the tangled world of social security disability benefits.  

Jennifer is a tough yet caring attorney who provides skillful and aggressive legal representation.  Her success as a litigator began in law school when she received an award for the Best Oral Advocate in 2003.  Her practice is built on those same skills that have been honed and refined throughout numerous Tennessee courtrooms, mediation conference rooms and appellate courts.  Her family law experience, particularly in the areas of complex divorce litigation, juvenile matters, and adoptions, is hard to equal in the East Tennessee area.

She began her legal career clerking with The Bosch Law Firm, P.C. where she focused on complex criminal defense litigation—including death penalty defense.  In 2005, Jennifer graduated law school and accepted an associate position with the boutique domestic relations firm of Rice, Amundsen & Caperton, P.L.L.C. focusing on domestic relations issues.  Upon return to the East Tennessee area, Jennifer formed the firm of Burton McKinnish, PLLC and the practice has grown from a single office of two attorneys to dual office firm with multiple attorneys to meet the needs of her clients and a support team second to none.
