Mary D. Miller

Originally from North Carolina, Mary has been admitted to practice law in the state of Tennessee since 1988.   She began her practice with Heiskell, Donelson, Bearman, Adams, Williams & Kirsch.  She practiced with Dan Scott at Scott & Associates for two years and then returned to Heiskell, Donelson, Bearman, Adams, Williams & Kirsch which is now known as Baker Donelson Bearman & Caldwell in Knoxville.  After becoming a partner at Baker in 1995 in 2001, she founded The Miller Law Firm in Knoxville, Tennessee.  

Mary graduated from Emory Law School in Atlanta, Georgia with distinction in 1988.  While there, Mary received the American Jurisprudence Award in Remedies.  She has served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Tennessee School of Law, and instructed many continuing legal education courses, some of which include “The Nuts and Bolts of Basic Real Estate Law” presented by the Tennessee Young Lawyers Conference and Tennessee Valley Title Insurance Company; “Advanced Real Estate Law in Tennessee” and “Keys to Success in a Real Estate Transaction in Tennessee” for the National Business Institute. For many years, Mary served on the Board of Directors of the Mid-South Commercial Law Institute, was a member of the East Tennessee Wireless Association and Robert Morris and Associates.  She has served St. Joseph School Home and School Associates as Vice President, Co-President as well as President.  In 2011 and 2012, she served on the East Tennessee Lawyers’ Association of Women’s Board of Directors and the Tennessee Lawyers’ Association of Women’s Board.  In 2012 and 2013 Mary has served as a member of the Tennessee Bench Bar Committee. She also has coached both boys and girls youth basketball for over 20 years. Mary is married, has two children, one grandchild and lives in Knoxville, Tennessee.
