Quality

Camellia Saunders is quality! Her ethics are on point. She is professionally personal. I have never had an issue with fees or retainers and receive detailed bills for services so I know where my money is going. I have always been able to get a meeting with her in a timely manner and she returns e...-mails and phone calls in an appropriate amount of time. She has always been direct and honest with me about possible outcomes. I feel confident with her as my representation because I truly believe that she cares about the children and will follow the law, and give a true fight to protect it. She was my attorney for custody of my oldest children, I lost the first time but due to the facts of the case and my condition, not because of her representation. Since then I have retained her, when my side of the street was taken care of, and I won! Both times. People, we have to give our attorneys something to work with - she is not going to fight against what is best for a child. She WILL help you maneuver through the legal system knowledgeably and help you keep as many rights as possible and develop a "game plan" for the future. She gave me hope, and it was just what I needed. Today my life is beautiful and I'm so grateful that I chose her!

Worth every dime!!!

I was facing a 60-day relocation case. My husband accepted a job out of state so I had to notify my childs father of the relocation and he opposed our move. We had very little time to get all of this straightened out because my husband was already out of state starting his job while I stayed home wit...h my children till the court case was heard. Camellia and her assistant Karen, were fantastic with communicating with me, returning my phone calls and talking through all the legal language. Camellia jumped in feet first into my case, took charge over the court scheduling, mediation and really showed her knowledge of the Knox county court system. We ended up in court 2 days after our mediation did not accomplish our goal. Camellia took the entire day to prepare every detail to argue with the opposing counsel. She killed every argument the other side had to opposing our relocation and tore into every personal detail that showed the judge there was no reason for us NOT to relocate. Camellia was extremely knowledgeable, aggressive (at the right times), responsive and trustworthy. All of this was accomplished within a month! I have dealt with 2 other attorneys who worked on other issues of child custody for us and they didn't accomplish anything in over 2 years! Camellia took my case to heart and saved my family from what could have been a nightmare. She is worth every dime and more.I would recommend her to everyone I know, just not my enemies!

Above and Beyond

Not being from Knoxville left us with a difficult task of finding a reliable attorney. When we began our search, we ran across Camellia's profile which motivated us to want to go in for a consultation. When we sat down with her and laid out the details of our situation, we felt like she took the case... and made it her own. Whilst the court system can be daunting with an attorney, it can be even more frustrating without one. Camellia demonstrated her adept knowledge of the law, as well as her persistence in getting things done on our behalf. What could've taken years to fix had she not been involved, took roughly 5 months, and thats only because of the courts lack of responsibility in getting us on the dockets. I highly recommend Camellia, if you are in need of someone who understands the law, affordable, as well as someone who will work profusely to get the job done.

Look Elsewhere

Other than a free consultation, we never saw her. We were charged for every phone call, every email she wrote, every letter she wrote, which exhausted the entire retainer. We primarily went through assistant's. Ms. Saunders advice and recommendations did not pan out, and she did not want to explor...e other options in order to help the child involved. We ended up with no retainer money left when the court day approached, and within 48 hours we had another attorney who stepped in and helped us gain custody rights. I called her office after the court date to give them information I had received on our case that her office had no clue about. Ms. Saunders basically got her money, wrote some emails, filed a custody order (which she advised would definitely work and did not), billed us up and dropped off. A complete waste of our time and money.

Yes. Attorneys bill clients for work done on their case and that includes phone calls, emails, writing letters as well as drafting legal documents and making court appearances. Hence the legal term "billable hours". A client's retainer may get them through the finalization of their case and then again it may not. That will simply depend on the specific facts of each case and no case is exactly alike. A retainer is only a rough estimate of the potential cost of a case and is rarely an exact science. An attorney cannot effectively practice law without the help of other legal professionals which include paralegals and legal assistants. However, meeting with me is as simple as calling my office and making an appointment. It is that easy. I have never refused to meet with any client at any time when asked to do so. The attorney-client relationship is like any other relationship. Sometimes everyone is on the same page and sometimes they are not. Some attorney-client relationships work exceptionally well and some don't. I will always be honest with my client's and advise them as to how I see things. That does not mean my client will always like what I have to say or agree with my position on their case. A client always has the option of finding a different attorney that they feel is a better fit for them. It happens all the time. However, this is in no way a negative reflection on me or my office.

Relationship: Opposing Counsel on matter

"Camellia was opposing counsel on what could have been a difficult divorce case. However, we were able to work together to get a amicable resolution for both parties and in the most inexpensive way possible for the clients. It was great working with another attorney that wanted to do what was best for their client without a lot of the unnecessary steps and expense of a contested divorce. Great to work with and against. Very knowledgeable in her areas of practice."

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
