Rickey L. Powers

I have tried over 350 jury trials in a career of 40 years.  I have specialized in general insurance (auto, homeowners, business premises liability) and medical malpractice defense for hospitals, nursing homes, and doctors.  Over the last 4 years, I have defended 4 brain damaged baby trials each lasting more than 8 days and obtained defense verdicts in all 4 of them.  I also do physician peer review and fair hearing cases for hospitals and doctors and work with medical staffs and hospital boards in the areas of credentialing and quality reviews.  I have spoken to hospital groups and attorneys about medical issues and trial have ben recognized by Best Lawyers in America since 1995.  In 2013 I was recognized as Lawyer of the Year in Health Care law in our area and in 2016 I am being recognized as Lawyer of the Year in Medical Malpractice Lawery-Defendants in the Knoxville legal community.  I am a member of the Hamilton Burnett Inns of Court and was a member of the Tennessee Law Review while at the Uviversity of Tennessee College of Law where I graduated Order of the Coif in 1975.
