Highly Professional and Dedicated

I asked Sarah Higgins to take over my divorce case as I was completely disappointed with the attorney representing me initially; Sarah agreed and what a blessing that was!! My divorce was extremely complicated due to (false) medical issues being represented by my wife. Sarah went to work at once and... secured a court order to obtain my wife's medical records. Sarah immediately began the arduous task of researching the voluminous amount of medical records, consulted necessary medical professionals and obtained expert medical witnesses to validate our suspicion of symptom embellishment and medical charade. I went through hundreds of pages of medical records in great detail once we obtained copies. During one of our meetings, Sarah and I were discussing very precise details in my wife's medical records. I commented on, what I thought was a minor detail, and wanting to make sure Sarah had read the record also, I referred to the information. Sarah corrected my comment and pointed out my error in interpretation!! This confirmed to me that Sarah was heavily involved in combing through the records and scrutinizing every little detail in preparation for court. I’m sure you can imagine my level of confidence in Sarah after that!! Also, I would like to point out that the legal firm my wife was using had two lawyers working her case in an attempt to be prevail in court!! Sarah is an outstanding attorney and I highly recommend her services.

Poor representation

I hired Attorney Higgins for a child support case. I had to always contact her for updates about my case. She did little (based on her own billing notes) other than place calls and draft a letter. She was absent from her practice and clients for an extended period of time and did not notify me. Also,... she left law firms without updating me. I would not recommend this attorney. I ended up resolving my own child support case via Child Support Division - and for free and the division always kept me updated.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
