Curt is a native of Greeneville, TN. He earned his Bachelor's Degree at East Tennessee State University and was the Vice President of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity in which he helped create and found the TN Gamma Balanced Man Scholarship. In the Summer of 2006, Curt was honored to accept a Congressional Internship with then local Congressman Bill Jenkins in Washington D.C. While attending East Tennessee State University, Curt received several academic awards within his major including the Dean’s List.
After leaving East Tennessee State, Curt ventured to Jacksonville, Florida to obtain his Juris Doctorate at Florida Coastal School of Law. While attending Florida Coastal, Curt received several awards including the Motion for Summary Judgment Award in Legal Process and Legal Writing. He was a member of the Trial Practice Team, Criminal Law Student Association, and was fortunate to Study Abroad with the University of Miami School of Law in Greece and Italy through their Comparative International Law Program, including courses in International Armed Conflict and Comparative Responses to Emergencies.
After passing both Tennessee and Florida Bar exams in July of 2011, Curt decided to return to his home town of Greeneville at which time he accepted a position at the John Rogers Law Group as an independent contract attorney until June of 2012. In June of 2012, Curt formed the C Collins Law Firm and worked as a solo practitioner up until the formation of Collins Shipley, PLLC. Curt is licensed to practice law in the State of Tennessee, State of Florida, and the Eastern District of Tennessee Federal District Court. He is the current Greene County Bar President, a member of the Federal Bench Bar Committee, a member of the Tennessee Bar Association Young Lawyers Division Board, a member of the Greene County Partnership, and received the People’s Choice Award from the Greeneville Sun in 2015. A Board Member on many local organizational boards, as well as an active member in his community, Curt strives to be involved in his local community by whatever means he can.
