I am a Tullahoma attorney and the founder of The Law Office of Corey A. Spearman. I represent clients in immigration, criminal defense, civil rights, family law, and selected civil litigation matters. My Tennessee practice serves clients in Tullahoma and communities across the state, while my federal immigration practice serves individuals and families nationwide.
A Chattanooga native, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2012 and my law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2016. I worked as a paralegal while attending law school, gaining practical experience well before entering practice as an attorney.
I began my legal career litigating civil rights cases, including constitutional challenges to ballot-access restrictions that kept third-party candidates off the ballot. After six years in civil litigation, I returned home to Tennessee in 2022. That experience continues to influence how I approach a case: examine what the evidence actually shows, identify where the government or opposing party has overreached, and determine what can realistically be accomplished.
In criminal cases, I represent clients charged with misdemeanors and felonies, including DUI and traffic offenses, drug charges, assault, theft, and probation violations. I also evaluate civil rights claims involving unlawful searches and seizures, wrongful arrests, excessive force, unconstitutional detention, and other government misconduct. My family law practice includes divorce, custody, parenting plans, child support, and contempt proceedings. I also accept other civil litigation matters selectively.
Immigration remains a principal part of my practice. I represent individuals and families nationwide in family-based immigration, asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, U and T visas, VAWA petitions, work authorization, removal proceedings, immigration detention and bond hearings, and appeals. I also help clients identify and repair damage caused by notarios and other unlicensed immigration-document preparers.
My approach with clients is direct. I explain what the facts and law support, what problems I sees, and which options are realistic before asking a client to invest additional time or money. Clients receive plain-language explanations and direct communication from the attorney responsible for their case. The firm provides Spanish-language assistance through bilingual staff and can arrange interpretation in other languages.
I am licensed to practice law in Tennessee and am a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the Tennessee Bar Association. Outside the office, I remain a lifelong student of history—particularly the classical world—and live in Manchester with my family and three cats.
