Alandis Brassel is an experienced entertainment attorney with a passion for helping creatives build sustainable businesses and careers. He regularly represents recording artists, songwriters, producers, and other music business professionals in a wide range of legal matters, including contract negotiations, IP rights, royalty recovery, and legacy planning (estate planning and administration). He also works with creatives in the film, television, and influencer industries.
Active in the arts and entertainment community, Alandis is a member of The Recording Academy (Grammys ®) and a director on the board of Worldwide Stages, a state-of-the-art soundstage and production campus for music, TV, film, and virtual production in the Nashville metropolitan area. He is also an advocate for equity and education within the industry, serving as a volunteer attorney with the Volunteer Lawyers and Professionals for the Arts, a board member for Nashville Music Equality, and an advisory board member for the Music Export Memphis Music Industry Council. Alandis is a frequent lecturer and panelist at music industry conferences such as Music Biz and Americanafest.
Prior to his legal career, Alandis was a professional audio engineer with clients such as Bloomberg Television, Warner Chappell Music, and Def Jam. After graduating from law school, Alandis worked as Counsel in the Office of U.S. Representative Jim Cooper (TN-05) and as Program Director of the Arts & Business Council of Greater Nashville before going into private practice.
He is the past chair of the Tennessee Bar Association Entertainment and Sports Law Section and a former Assistant Professor of Music Business at The University of Memphis Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music. Alandis has also taught as adjunct faculty at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law and Belmont University’s Mike Curb College of Entertainment & Music Business.
Alandis has been recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in Entertainment Law for three consecutive years and was recently named a Billboard Magazine 2023 Top Music Lawyer.
