Matthew Clay Adams

Matt Adams has extensive experience in handling business and legal affairs in the entertainment, recording, publishing and Internet industries.   Currently, Matt is the Director, Legal & Business Affairs for Sony Music Nashville.  He primarily handles contract negotiations and business matters on behalf of Sony’s three country label operations (Arista Nashville, Columbia Nashville and RCA Records Label Nashville) in its dealings with the label’s roster of artists, their managers and attorneys, and with third parties regarding the use and exploitation of Sony’s masters, records, videos and digital media.

Throughout his nearly twenty years as an entertainment lawyer and music business professional, he has represented recording artists, songwriters, music producers, record labels, music publishers and other business clients in various musical genres, has negotiated book deals on behalf of book publishers and authors, and handled independent film related transactions.  He also represented clients concerning intellectual property rights involving emerging technologies and digital media distribution, including copyright and trademark transactions.

Matt is a graduate of Leadership Music (Class of 2014) as well as a member of the Country Music Association (CMA) and a member of the Academy of Country Music (ACM).  Matt earned his Bachelor of Arts in business from Baylor University and his Juris Doctor from Baylor University School of Law.
