Kimberly Thomas Messmore

I am an attorney in Carthage, Tennessee, with a very diverse practice of civil and criminal law.  I handle family law cases, including divorce, custody, juvenile law, child support, and adoption. I also handle cases in estate planning, probate, employment law, civil rights, various other civil matters, as well as criminal law.  I primarily practice in Smith County, Wilson County, Trousdale County, Macon County, Jackson County, Putnam County, and DeKalb County. However, I also take cases in the surrounding areas in certain circumstances.  Additionally, I handle cases in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee.   

In 2002, I graduated from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy. However, my true passion in college was participating in a nationally award-winning mock trial program, which led me to attend law school.  I continued my education at Washington and Lee University School of Law, graduating with a Juris Doctor Degree in 2005.  I was licensed to practice law in Tennessee in 2005.  In 2023, I was admitted to the United States District Court in the Middle District of Tennessee.  I am a member of the Tennessee Bar Association and the Tennessee Employment Lawyers Association.  In my spare time, I enjoy reading, watching college football, and spending time with my husband and two daughters.
