Joint action for possession and unpaid rent against a Chicago tenant. Tenant hired an attorney to contest the eviction and rent claim based on habitability grounds. After the parties could not reach a ... settlement, the case proceeded to trial. At trial, I successfully proved that the Defendant/Tenant was in violation of her lease by not paying rent, that no habitability issues existed within the apartment unit, and that my client was entitled to both possession of the unit and a money judgment for the unpaid rent plus court costs. The Judge awarded the Order for Possession and a money judgment in the thousands of dollars plus costs.
